Is MI5 doctoring photos of suspects?
As Peter K. wrote,"Take a look at this photo of the four alleged London bombers." . . . "At first, (almost) everything looks fine, but look closer... look at the guy with the white hat... check out his left arm (HIS left arm).... the lower of the rails of the railing is IN FRONT of his left arm... where of course it shouldn't be! I'm NO image specialist, but this sure looks ridiculous. I'd say it´s a fake." . . . The CLG has also inspected this image. "The white-hatted man was apparently superimposed onto the photo. Not only is his arm 'behind' a railing that is supposedly several feet behind HIM, but also, upon magnification in Photoshop, part of the bar actually goes into his head. This was 'touched-up,' but pixels of his head mix unmistakably with pixels from the railing."
[COMMENT by Lorenzo: If you look at the above picture in a JPG editor, you can see what the author is talking about. But I believe it would take a higher quality copy of that police photo to conclusively prove that the picture was retouched. It's an interesting theory, however. There is still something very strange about the official information we've been given about the recent attacks on London.]

British Cops taught to kill in Israel (GlabalResearch.ca, July 24, 2005) The cold blooded murder of Jean Charles de Menezes, in the Stockwell underground was no accident. London Metropolitan Police had approved a policy of "shoot to kill": . . . "a controversial tactic deployed only in the most extreme circumstances but one police have been preparing to use for the last two weeks.". . . . The shoot to kill policy was undertaken under the auspices of "Operation Kratos", named after the mythical Spartan hero. It was carried out by the London Metropolitan's elite SO19 firearms unit often referred to as the Blue Berets. The latter are described as the equivalent to the US SWAT teams, yet in this particular case, they were not wearing uniforms. . . . The training of the S019 marksmen was patterned on that of Israel. They had been briefed "by officers who had been to Israel to meet their counterparts there and pick up tips gleaned from the experience of dealing with Hamas bombers". . . . "During the Kratos briefings, the Met team were told that, contrary to their normal arms training, they should fire at the head rather than the chest. Although the chest is easier to hit, it is not as reliable in causing instant death, giving a bomber a chance to detonate his device.... "(The Scottish Daily Record, 23 July, 2005). . . . The "Israeli counterparts" refers to Israel's National Police (INP), Shin Bet (the Israel Security Agency) and Israel's Ministry of Internal Security. But the police antiterrorist operations conducted by the INP against Hamas and Islamic Jihad are carried out in close coordination with the Military (Israeli Defense Force) and Mossad. Israel has also collaborated in the training of members of the FBI and the LAPD. Top law enforcement officers of the FBI were trained in Israel under a program sponsored by the The Jewish Institute for National Security. . . . Essentially what we are dealing with is the formation of a death squadron mentality under the auspices of what is stilled officially considered a "civilian police force". . . . Despite the controversy surrounding the shoot-to-kill operations, London mayor Ken Livingstone "had nothing but praise for the police". . . . Rather than condemning the killing and calling for an investigation, he casually laid the blamed for the death of Jean Charles de Menezes on the terrorists: "The police acted to do what they believed necessary to protect the lives of the public... This tragedy has added another victim to the toll of deaths for which the terrorists bear responsibility." (BBC, 23 July 2005)

More Explosions in London: Psy-ops in Progress? (Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones,Prison Planet, July 21 2005) Ask the question, who benefits? Today is the last day of parliament before an 80 day break. So if the governmen wanted to get those anti-terror measures through which were proposed after the 7/7 bombing, then this status of high alert is the perfect climate to get them rammed through without dissent. . . . In the early confusion about what is actually happening in London, several things are already clear. . . . - This immediately stalls questions about the first bombing. The mainstream media were finally beginning to highlight the fact that the government's official story did not fit together. This takes those issues off the front pages. . . . - This further promulgates the fearmongering and creates a pliable public that is willing to accept draconian anti-terror laws. They are trying to turn us into Israel, with an alert or a bombing every fortnight. . . . On the very day that the Patriot Act is due to be renewed, Bush can use the alert level to grease the skids and bully Congress into re-authorizing the bill. . . . Related: Bush sees London attacks as reason for Patriot Act . . . Sky News is showing scenes of random Arabs being arrested. Watch for the fearmongering of 'four terrorists on the loose waiting to attack' - this will enable emergency stop and search powers to be used. How likely is it that all four bombs would fail to detonate? . . . ITN news reported that one of the suspected suicide bombers was arrested and taken into Whitehall. Why would somebody so potentially dangerous be taken into a government building and not to the police station? . . . Sky News reported that 'something was in the air' and that several stations had been closed due to an alert at 11am. . . . BBC reported that one of the individuals' rucksacks exploded and he looked surprised and dismayed. Who is planting these devices in people's luggage? Or are these people copycats? . . . Sky News reported that Tony Blair was already in a crisis meeting in an underground bunker which overlapped with the alert. Another case of preparing to 'control' the chaos as it unfolded? . . . Sky News also reports Blair was set to meet with MI5 and MI6 as well as Secret Service later today. This suggests Blair's schedule was planned ahead of time to coincide with these incidents. . . . There are already 'Atta passport' type stories of Arabs planting the bombs and running away and being chased by members of the public. This immediately creates the psy-ops stroyboard that this is the work of Al-Qaeda. . . . The Israeli government is renowned for pulling off these dummy bombings to keep their population in a state of fear.

52 Guantanamo detainees refuse food (BBC NEWS, 21 July 2005) Fifty-two detainees at the US prison camp at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba are staging a hunger strike, US military officials say. . . . So far, the men have refused nine meals over three days, the US military said in a statement. . . . The detainees are being monitored by medical professionals and their vital signs are being checked daily. . . . More than 500 inmates are currently being held at Guantanamo. Only four have been charged. . . . On Wednesday, an Afghan man released from the camp after three years said that more than 100 prisoners had been on hunger strike for two weeks. . . . The former Taleban soldier said the protest was aimed at highlighting "inhuman" conditions at the camp.

Something Suspicious About Official Story of London Bus Bombing (Paul Joseph Watson, Prison Planew, July 15, 2005) We received an e mail from an employee of Stagecoach, the company responsible for the majority of London buses. . . . Our contact works a route roughly one mile from the site of the bus bombing last Thursday. . . . The bus driver pointed out that the number 30 bus was the only one to be re-routed after the initial bombs went off in the London Underground, every other bus carried on its normal journey, but for some reason this bus was diverted. . . . The driver notes the following about CCTV maintainence. . . . "CCTV gets maintained at least 2 or 3 times a week and can digitally store upto 2 whole weeks worth of footage. this is done by a private contractor....So when I heard that the CCTV wasn't working on a vehicle that's no more than 2 years old since last June . . . I'm sorry that's rubbish, I work for the company I know different." . . . As a point of interest . . . last saturday a contractor came to inspect the CCTV on the buses at the depot, According to my supervisor the person spent more than 20 hours over that weekend, 20 hours to see if the CCTV is working? Also that person who came was not a regular contractor, for security reasons the same few people always come to the depot to carry out work, this time it was different. . . . Drivers in the depot already think the so called bombers had inside help because it was to organised. Some even think it had help from the company." . . . I have received other information suggesting that the CCTV is regularly maintained and checked. The police pay the bus company to check it, and the bus company makes a substantial profit out of this, so all parties benefit from keeping the CCTV systems working. . . . This information makes it all the more suspicious that the bus cameras were not working. . . . Was the mammoth 20 hour inspection session of the CCTV a means of disabling the CCTV, or something even darker? Were the contractors, who were not familiar to the bus company employees, actually placing the bomb? . . . It's beyond doubt that these four Muslims were framed. They were most likely hired as MI6 spies, sent to Pakistan and then brought back and told they were to take part in an important exercise to test national security. Give them the rucksacks, get them on the trains and then detonate the bombs remotely. . . . Do you really believe for a second that guys with 8 month babies and guys who taught diasbled schoolchildren would want to blow themselves up and kill other innocent people?

Uzbekistan steps up pressure on U.S. to close base (Vladimir Radyuhin, The Hindu, July 09, 2005) Uzbekistan is stepping up pressure on the United States to withdraw its air base set up in the Central Asian country for operations in neighbouring Afghanistan. . . . The Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Americans were allowed to use the air base at Karshi-Khanabad "in direct connection with the military operation in northern Afghanistan" for the overthrow of the Taliban regime after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States. . . . "Any other variants for U.S. military presence on the territory of Uzbekistan in the future were not considered by the Uzbek leadership," the ministry said. . . . "These fundamental principles must be placed at the centre of any discussions about prospects for the future presence of the U.S. military contingent at the Khanabad air field." . . . Uzbekistan also said that the United States had not paid takeoff and landing fees, as well as compensation for security services, new infrastructure, ecological damage and inconvenience to the local population. . . . The statement was issued two days after the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation called for the United States and its coalition allies in Afghanistan to set a date for withdrawing their military bases from Central Asia. . . . Last month Uzbekistan introduced severe restrictions on American flights from the Khanabad base forcing the U.S. command to redeploy some aircraft to Afghanistan. . . . Kyrgyzstan has joined Uzbekistan in calling on Washington to shut down its air base near the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek. . . . Washington has rejected the demands. The U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan, where the U.S. military also use air base facilities, said the U.S. military bases in the region continue to give active support to the continuing operations of the coalition forces in Afghanistan.

China threatens atomic bomb use against U.S. (Joseph Kahn, New York Times, July 15, 2005) China should use nuclear weapons against the United States if the American military intervenes in any conflict over Taiwan, a senior Chinese military official said Thursday. . . . "If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China's territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons," the official, Maj. Gen. Zhu Chenghu, said at an official briefing. . . . General Zhu said he believed that the Chinese government was under internal pressure to change its "no first use" policy and to make clear that it would employ the most powerful weapons at its disposal to defend its claim over Taiwan. . . . The Pentagon is preparing the release of a long-delayed report on the Chinese military that some experts say will warn that China could emerge as a strategic rival to the United States. . . . Beijing has said repeatedly that it would use military force to prevent Taiwan from becoming a formally independent country. President Bush has made clear that the United States would defend Taiwan. . . . Many military analysts have assumed that any battle over Taiwan would be localized, with both China and the United States taking care to ensure that it would not expand into a general war between the two powers. . . . But the comments by General Zhu suggest that at least some elements of the military are prepared to widen the conflict, perhaps to persuade the United States that it could no more successfully fight a limited war against China than it could against the former Soviet Union. . . . "If the Americans are determined to interfere, then we will be determined to respond," he said. "We Chinese will prepare ourselves for the destruction of all the cities east of Xian. Of course the Americans will have to be prepared that hundreds of cities will be destroyed by the Chinese." . . . General Zhu said he had recently expressed his views to former American officials, including Mr. Freeman and Adm. Dennis C. Blair, the former commander in chief of the United States Pacific Command.

London Underground Bombing 'Exercises' Took Place at Same Time as Real Attack (Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones, Prison Planet, July 11 2005) A consultancy agency with government and police connections was running an exercise for an unnamed company that revolved around the London Underground being bombed at the exact same times and locations as happened in real life on the morning of July 7th. . . . The transcript is as follows. = = =POWER: At half past nine this morning we were actually running an exercise for a company of over a thousand people in London based on simultaneous bombs going off precisely at the railway stations where it happened this morning, so I still have the hairs on the back of my neck standing up right now. . . . HOST: To get this quite straight, you were running an exercise to see how you would cope with this and it happened while you were running the exercise? . . . POWER: Precisely, and it was about half past nine this morning, we planned this for a company and for obvious reasons I don't want to reveal their name but they're listening and they'll know it. And we had a room full of crisis managers for the first time they'd met and so within five minutes we made a pretty rapid decision that this is the real one and so we went through the correct drills of activating crisis management procedures to jump from slow time to quick time thinking and so on. = = = . . . The fact that the exercise mirrored the exact locations and times of the bombings is light years beyond a coincidence. Power said the drill focused around 'simultaneous bombings'. At first the bombings were thought to have been spread over an hour, but the BBC reports just today that the bombings were in fact simultaneous. . . . We are not suggesting that Mr. Power had any knowledge of the real purpose of the exercise, and the open shock he exclaims in relating the story underlines this. . . . The exercise fulfils several different goals. It acts as a cover for the small compartamentalized government terrorists to carry out their operation without the larger security services becoming aware of what they're doing, and, more importantly, if they get caught during the attack or after with any incriminating evidence they can just claim that they were just taking part in the exercise. . . . This is precisely what happened on the morning of 9/11/2001. The CIA was conducting drills of flying hijacked planes into the WTC and Pentagon at 8:30 in the morning. . . . It is clear that at least five if not six training exercises were in operation in the days leading up to and on the morning of 9/11. This meant that NORAD radar screens showed as many as 22 hijacked airliners at the same time. NORAD had been briefed that this was part of the exercise drill and therefore normal reactive procedure was forestalled and delayed. . . . The large numbers of 'blips' on NORAD screens that displayed both real and 'drill' hijacked planes explain why confused press reports emerged hours after the attack stating that up to eight planes had been hijacked. . . . The Anglo-American establishment that controls the military-industrial complex of the West has been caught over a hundred times carrying out bombings and other terrorist attacks around the world to further their corporate aims and to blame their enemies. . . . The US government has been caught planning to carry out attacks and carrying out attacks. The British government has been caught red-handed as well. Members of Vladimir Putin's FSB were caught planting bombs in a Russian apartment building in 1999 by the Moscow police. . . . This is not speculation. Kermit Roosevelt admited on NPR radio that in 1953 the CIA and British intelligence carried out a wave of bombings and shootings in Iran. He then went on to brag about how they subsequently blamed the bombings on Iran's President, Mossadegh. Do you understand, these people brag about what they do 40 years later? . . . The London bombings have the same signature as the Madrild bombings of 3/11. Both of these bombings are almost indistinguishable from the Bolognia bombing in 1980 that killed over 80 people. . . . The London terror alert level was lowered before the bombings took place. This gave the purpotrators extra cover to plan and execute the attack without having to evade the most stringent security. . . . In any crime you look at history and motive, The British government has been caught in multiple examples of carrying out bombings in London which were then blamed on the IRA. They even had one of their own MI5 agents wihin the Omagh bomb squad. . . . The wider agenda will become clearer when Blair firmly points the finger at the selected patsies designated to take the fall. But for the moment he's happy to grandstand as the courageous leader who immedately returned to London to take control of the chaos.

Welcome to Zionised Britain (Gilad Atzmon, 10.7.05) "Let’s see how the Israelis cope with the threat of terror", said the BBC presenter in a London studio. Seemingly, we are now supposed to be learning from the experience of the Israelis. Ask yourselves why. Simply because we are now fully Zionised, we are fighting the Zionist wars and we pay the heaviest price for it. . . . A second later we are watching a news item from Jerusalem, the local BBC correspondent is interviewing three American settlers. They are all overwhelmingly confident. They are telling us that thanks to security officers located now at every bus stop in town, Jerusalem hasn’t experienced a suicide attack for over 18 months. Let me tell you, the reality is somewhat different. The Palestinians are now locked behind separation walls, within enclaves, Bantustans and concentration camps. I do hope that you all realise that if we give Tony Blair enough time this will be the reality of Birmingham, Bradford or any other mixed city in the UK. Racial hatred is the biggest danger for a multi-ethnic society and we are such a society. . . . The UK (following the USA) is operating as a Zionist mission force. It fights the last pockets of Arab resistance. Let's face it, we were pooled into this Zionist led 'cultural clash'. In the name of the 'Judeo Christian' myth, we are fighting the Muslim world. We are daily engaged in the destruction of Iraqi lives and as it seems, this clash is about to expand. . . . We all agree that Israel is operating as a Colonialist state motivated by racial supremacist views. But then, isn't the case of Blair's Britain very similar? If Tony Blair isn't a white supremacist how dare he suggesting that Democracy is the right way forward for the Muslim world. How come he knows better than the Muslims what is good for them? When you come to determine other people's lives you must believe that you know better. You must assume that you are better. . . . And yet, hardly anyone in the UK opens his mouth. We are facing a real crisis here. We do not operate as a community. We act as a bunch of isolated wounded animals. . . . We have now managed to detach ourselves from our innermost sense of being in the world. We are not searching for meaning, we are merely concerned with paying the bills. This is the ultimate form of alienation. We forgot what life is all about. Empathy is out of the window. . . . Clearly, from now on, Londoners regard death caused by terror as another aspect of modern life. In a way we internalise the values of a murderous society. We are the murderer awaiting his punishment.

Nobody Attacks Civilization (Charlie Reese, Rense.com, 7-9-5) British Prime Minister Tony Blair and President George W. Bush went into their standard routine after the London bombings. This was an attack against civilization and all civilized nations, they said. . . . That's bosh and hokum, and it does a disservice to the people. The first step always in solving any problem is to define the problem correctly. There are no terrorists anywhere in the world whose goal is the destruction of civilization, Western or otherwise. . . . The terrorist attacks against the U.S., Great Britain and Spain are motivated exclusively by Western policies toward the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the presence of Western military forces in Islamic countries. Al-Qaeda, the ideological source of these attacks, has always been crystal-clear and specific about its reasons for declaring war against the United States. . . . You can't win a war unless you know who your enemy is, know why he is your enemy and know what his objectives are. Only then can you properly direct your military and political forces to combat him successfully. . . . Unfortunately, very early on, President Bush decided to create a mythical enemy of vague and ambiguous proportions and irrational motives. This was done to give carte blanche to the government to pursue policies that really had nothing to do with fighting al-Qaeda - e.g., invading Iraq, putting North Korea and Iran in the "axis of evil" and including groups on the enemies list that were in fact not our enemies. . . . The confusion this causes was illustrated by television coverage of the London attacks. Several commentators lumped together the terrorist attacks against public transport in Moscow, Madrid and London. However, the Moscow attack had nothing to do with the attacks in Madrid and London, or with us. Moscow is fighting Chechen rebels who want independence for Chechnya. Chechen attacks against Russia, like Palestinian attacks against Israel, are not directed at us. They are motivated by specific political objectives. Chechens and Palestinians have no desire to destroy civilization; they simply wish to take their place in the family of nations as independent countries. . . . You can't have a war against terrorism because, as many people have pointed out, terrorism is a tactic employed by people who have no real military power. It is not an entity. There is no worldwide terrorist organization. . . . What the United States should be doing, instead of invading and occupying countries, is re-examining its foreign policy vis-à-vis the Islamic world. There is no natural conflict between the West and Islam. The followers and true believers of Osama bin Laden are a tiny minority. The best way to cut the ground out from under him is to develop and pursue policies that treat all of the Islamic countries with fairness and respect.. . . We don't do that at the present time. Because of the power of the Israeli lobby to skew our policy to benefit Israel, our Middle East policies are riddled with double and triple standards and reek of hypocrisy. Because of that, we are the best recruiter Osama bin Laden has. . . . But in the meantime, remember that terrorist attacks are primarily media events. You still have more to fear from the flu or accidents than you do from terrorists.

Experts fear Bush's war is mutating into global insurgency (New York and Washington. Bali, Riyadh, Istanbul, Madrid. And now London. . . . When will it end? Where will it all lead? . . . The experts aren’t encouraged. One prominent terrorism researcher sees the prospect of "endless" war. Adds the man who tracked Osama bin Laden for the CIA, "I don’t think it’s even started yet." . . . An Associated Press survey of longtime students of international terrorism finds them ever more convinced, in the aftermath of London’s bloody Thursday, that the world has entered a long siege in a new kind of war. They believe that al-Qaida is mutating into a global insurgency, a possible prototype for other 21st-century movements, technologically astute, almost leaderless. And the way out is far from clear. . . . In fact, says Michael Scheuer, the ex-CIA analyst, rather than move toward solutions, the United States took a big step backward by invading Iraq. . . . Now, he said, "we're at the point where jihad is self-sustaining," where Islamic "holy warriors" in Iraq fight America with or without allegiance to al-Qaida's bin Laden. . . . The 5,362 deaths from terrorism worldwide between March 2004 and March 2005 were almost double the total for the same 12-month period before the 2003 U.S. invasion. . . . Such compartmentalized groupings, in touch electronically but with little central control, "are going to be a prototype for understanding where terrorist movements are going in the 21st century," . . . the so-called Earth and Animal Liberation fronts in the United States are examples -- if less lethal ones -- of "leaderles"” militant movements based on isolated cells. . . . it's not unrealistic that another American example -- far-right "militia" cells -- might make common cause someday with foreign terrorists against the U.S. government. . . . Bruce Hoffman, the veteran RAND Corp. specialist who fears an "endless war," dismisses talk of al-Qaida’s "back" having been "broken" by the capture of some leaders. . . . "From the terrorists' point of view, it seems they have calculated they need to do just one significant terrorist attack a year in another capital, and it regenerates the same fear and anxieties," said Hoffman, who was an adviser to the U.S. occupation in Iraq. . . . What should be broken, he said, is the cycle of terrorist recruitment through the generations. "Here you come to the main challenge." . . . He and most of the other half-dozen experts said the world’s richer powers must address "underlying causes" -- lessen the appeal of radicalism by improving economies, political rights and education in Arab and Muslim countries. . . . Combs cited bin Laden’s use of Afghanistan as his 1990s headquarters. "If we hadn’t been ignoring Afghanistan and instead offered real assistance, would it have become a base for bin Laden?" she asked. . . . Scheuer, who headed the CIA’s bin Laden unit for nine years, sees a different way out -- through U.S. foreign policy. He said he resigned last November to expose the U.S. leadership’s "willful blindness" to what needs to be done: withdraw the U.S. military from the Mideast, end "unqualified support" for Israel, sever close ties to Arab oil-state "tyrannies." . . . He acknowledged such actions aren’t likely soon, but said his longtime subject bin Laden will "make us bleed enough to get our attention." Ultimately, he said, "his goal is to destroy the Arab monarchies."

Robert Fisk: The reality of this barbaric bombing (Robert Fisk, The Independent, 08 July 2005) "If you bomb our cities," Osama bin Laden said in one of his recent video tapes, "we will bomb yours." . . . It was crystal clear Britain would be a target ever since Tony Blair decided to join George Bush's "war on terror" and his invasion of Iraq . . . And it's no use Mr Blair telling us yesterday that "they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear". "They" are not trying to destroy "what we hold dear". They are trying to get public opinion to force Blair to withdraw from Iraq, from his alliance with the United States, and from his adherence to Bush's policies in the Middle East. . . . It is easy for Tony Blair to call yesterdays bombings "barbaric" - of course they were - but what were the civilian deaths of the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq in 2003, the children torn apart by cluster bombs, the countless innocent Iraqis gunned down at American military checkpoints? When they die, it is "collateral damage"; when "we" die, it is "barbaric terrorism". . . . If we are fighting insurgency in Iraq, what makes us believe insurgency won't come to us? One thing is certain: if Tony Blair really believes that by "fighting terrorism" in Iraq we could more efficiently protect Britain - fight them there rather than let them come here, as Bush constantly says - this argument is no longer valid. . . . And now let us reflect on the fact that yesterday, the opening of the G8, so critical a day, so bloody a day, represented a total failure of our security services - the same intelligence "experts" who claim there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq when there were none, but who utterly failed to uncover a months-long plot to kill Londoners. . . . And this is part of the point of yesterday's bombings: to divide British Muslims from British non-Muslims (let us not mention the name Christians), to encourage the very kind of racism that Tony Blair claims to resent. . . . But here's the problem. To go on pretending that Britain's enemies want to destroy "what we hold dear" encourages racism; what we are confronting here is a specific, direct, centralised attack on London as a result of a "war on terror" which Lord Blair of Kut al-Amara has locked us into. Just before the US presidential elections, Bin Laden asked: "Why do we not attack Sweden?" Lucky Sweden. No Osama bin Laden there. And no Tony Blair.

Oil could 'hit $100 by winter' (Heather Stewart, The Observer, July 3, 2005) Oil prices could rocket to $100 within six months, plunging the world into an unprecedented fuel crisis, controversial Texan oil analyst Matt Simmons has warned. . . . But Simmons believes surging demand will keep prices bubbling well above $50. 'We could be at $100 by this winter. We have the biggest risk we have ever had of demand exceeding supply. We are now just about to face up to the biggest crisis we have ever had,' he said. . . . global warming is one of Britain's two major priorities, and Tony Blair hopes to secure a pledge to pour more cash into developing alternatives to the oil-intensive technologies that cause climate change. . . . Simmons believes such moves will be too little, too late. He will publish a hard-hitting book this week in which he argues that Saudi Arabia, the world's largest producer, is running out of oil, and further price rises are inevitable as supplies decline. He warns that the scramble for resources could eventually descend into war. . . . [COMMENT by Lorenzo: Ah, the drums of war have begun to beat, and their sound grows ever more near.] . . . Many analysts expect extra production over the next year, as high prices boost investment by energy firms. But Simmons says after many years of underinvestment, there is even a shortage of drilling rigs. . . . But the EIU warned that its forecasts - which show a 30 per cent increase in oil prices for 2005 - could prove too conservative if there are further wobbles in supply. 'The narrow margin of spare production capacity has made prices vulnerable to unforeseen reductions in supply or rises in demand,' it said. . . . Paul Horsnell, head of commodities analysis at Barclays Capital, said supply constraints would continue to bite for the rest of the year. 'It's all getting a bit tight' . . . Brent crude closed almost $2 a barrel higher in New York on Friday night, while futures contracts for heating oil, widely used in the US, hit a record high, which analysts said was unusual for summer.

Live 8: Was it mainly a corporate media bonanza? [COMMENT by Lorenzo: I have to admit that some parts of the Live 8 concert moved me, particularly since I'm a long-time Pink Floyd fan. But there was something about the vibe of the rock-hero-gods high up on their altars that just didn't feel as good as it does when your DJ is on the floor with you. So I tried to shrug off my bad feelings about it and join in with the emotion of some of the performers, like Alicia Keys, who I believe is very sincere about her beliefs, which I share, btw. . . . Then, today I came across this article, and it put Live 8 in a slightly different light. In the end, you will have to be your own judge about what this event ultimately will mean, especially to the poor people on the African continent.]
(GlabalResearch.ca, July 5, 2005) Live 8 is a multimillion dollar undertaking, which will result in huge profits for its corporate sponsors including AOL Time Warner, the US based media giant, the Ford Motor company, through its Swedish affiliate Volvo and Nokia, the cell phone company, not to mention Britain's EMI Music Group, which has entered into a highly lucrative arrangement with the Live 8 organizers. . . . AOL also holds the exclusive online rights for the event on the internet. . . . TV air-time has been auctioned off around the world. Millions of dollars of advertising revenues are expected from the broadcasting of the event, not to mention the repeats, the video-clips, the internet broadcasting and the DVDs, which will be available commercially. . . . According to the producers, Live 8 will go down as "the biggest global broadcast in history". The organizers expect --through TV, radio and the internet-- to reach some 5.5 billion people, or 85 per cent of the world's population. The advertising industry places the number of potential viewers at a conservative two billion, approximately one third of the World's population. . . . By far this is largest media advertising operation in history, which will line the pockets of the promoters, producers, corporate sponsors, not to mention the royalties accruing to the performers and "celebrities". A small percentage of the proceeds might accrue to charitable organizations involved in developing countries but this is not the stated objective of Live 8. . . . In a multimillion dollar agreement with the Live 8 organizers, Britain's EMI Music Group has secured the exclusive rights on the DVDs of the concerts in six of the G8 countries including the US, France, Britain, UK, Italy and Germany . . . In the words, of Bob Geldof, "I hope this will be the biggest-selling DVD of all time." . . . Meanwhile, the event has contributed to boosting stock market values with EMI's share price triple its 2003 level. . . . Distorting the Causes of Global Poverty . . . The concerts are totally devoid of political content. They concentrate on simple and misleading clichés. . . . They use poverty as a marketing tool and a consumer-advertising gimmick to increase the number of viewers and listeners worldwide. . . . Live 8 creates an aura of optimism. It conveys the impression that poverty can be vanquished with the stroke of the pen. All we need is good will. The message is that G8 leaders, together with the World Bank and the IMF, are ultimately committed to poverty alleviation. . . . In this regard, the concerts are part of the broader process of media disinformation. They are used as a timely public relations stunt for Prime Minister Tony Blair, who is hosting the G-8 Summit at Gleneagles, Scotland. Tony Blair is presented as stepping up his campaign to convince other G8 nations "to take action on poverty".

Concluding Remarks . . . The concerts serve to usefully distract public attention from the US-UK led war on Iraq and the broader relationship between war and global poverty. Not a word is mentioned in the concerts on the fact that George W. Bush and Tony Blair are considered "war criminals" under international law. . . . Moreover, Live 8 tends to undermine all forms of meaningful and articulate dissent to the G8 policy agenda. With the exception of the South African venue, which included the appearance of Nelson Mandela, the concerts are devoid of a broader understanding and commitment. . . . Live 8 undermines both the anti-globalization and anti-war movements. It diverts public opinion and distracts media attention from the G8 protest movement. It also serves to undermine the articulation of more radical voices against the New World Order. . . . More generally, the event instills an atmosphere of ignorance among the millions who listen to the music and who have the feeling of doing something positive and constructive. But none of the core elements needed to understand the causes of global poverty are presented. . . . To the Live 8 corporate sponsors, including Bob Geldof, the EMI Group, AOL Time Warner, The Ford Motor Company, Nokia, MTV, the Walt Disney Company, etc. "Put your money where you mouth is." . . . If you are really committed to poverty alleviation, give the entire proceeds of this multimillion dollar media operation, including the revenues generated by the corporate sponsors, TV networks, advertising firms, royalties accruing to celebrities and performers, to the people of Africa. Let them use this money as they see fit, without interference from donors and creditors.
To the people of Africa. Do not let yourself be deceived by a giant corporate media stunt where poverty is used as a logo, to attract consumers and make money. Default on your debt to the IMF and the World Bank.

Interesting Terror Attack Numerology [Click the link above to see the details and news links to the following "headlines" I've extracted from their article.]
Last year, a terrorist attack against the Sears Tower in Chicago was averted on April 19th, 2004 when it was exposed on the Internet . . . The attack was supposed to take place on April 19th, 2004, which was 911 hours after the day of the Madrid Train Bombings . . . When you add up the number of days after April 19th, 2004 and end with todays date, July 7th, 2005 the result is 444 days . . . The number 444 is part of a phenomena tied to the number 11:11 . . . According to the numerologists, 3/11 and 9/11 are also part of this 11:11 phenomena . . . If you recall; there were 911 days BETWEEN the day of the 9/11 Attacks and the Madrid Train Bombings . . . It's also convenient that the timing of today's attacks in London was coordinated with meeting of the G8 summit in Scotland in order to ramp up the police state in Great Britian and give the Globalists a pretext to shut down protests taking place outside the G8 compound.

Israel Warned United Kingdom About Possible Attacks (Stratfor Consulting Intelligence Agency, 07-07-05) The Associated Press reported July 7 that an anonymous source in the Israeli Foreign Ministry said Scotland Yard had warned the Israeli Embassy in London of possible terrorist attacks in the U.K. capital. The information reportedly was passed to the embassy minutes before the first bomb struck at 0851 London time. The Israeli Embassy promptly ordered Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to remain in his hotel on the morning of July 7. Netanyahu was scheduled to participate in an Israeli Investment Forum Conference at the Grand Eastern Hotel, located next to the Liverpool Street Tube station -- the first target in the series of bombings that hit London on July 7. . . . Contrary to original claims that Israel was warned "minutes before" the first attack, unconfirmed rumors in intelligence circles indicate that the Israeli government actually warned London of the attacks "a couple of days" previous. Israel has apparently given other warnings about possible attacks that turned out to be aborted operations. The British government did not want to disrupt the G-8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland, or call off visits by foreign dignitaries to London, hoping this would be another false alarm. . . . The British government sat on this information for days and failed to respond. Though the Israeli government is playing along publicly, it may not stay quiet for long. This is sure to apply pressure on Blair very soon for his failure to deter this major terrorist attack. . . . US holds onto key internet role (BBC NEWS, 1 July 2005) The US government has said it intends to maintain its role in overseeing how the internet is run. . . . It means the US will continue its oversight of the machines that serve as the net's master directories. . . . These computers tell browsers and e-mail programs how to direct traffic. . . . The US principles, laid out by a senior official come at a time when the United Nations is discussing giving poorer nations a greater say in how the internet is managed. . . . A group of 13 computers in private hands are known as root servers. They contain approved lists of net suffixes such as .com, known as the Domain Name System (DNS). . . . This matches up numerical addresses on the global computer network with easy-to-remember names such as www.amazon.com. . . . The US government has in the past indicated it would transfer responsibility for DNS to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann). . . . Icann was created in late 1998 to take over the net oversight functions that previously lay with the US authorities. . . . But the declaration issued by the US government on Thursday means that Washington intends to retain its key role in supervising how the internet works. . . . While most people will not notice any difference when they use the internet, the declaration puts the Bush administration at odds with those who want to reduce US influence on the net.
