US Government and Drug Companies Are Knowingly Poisoning Our Children
Russell L. Blaylock, M.D.
I was asked to write a paper on some of the newer mechanisms of vaccine damage to the nervous system, but, in the interim, I came across an incredible document that should blow the lid off the coverup being engineered by the pharmaceutical companies in conjunction with powerful governmental agencies. . . . In this shocking letter, Weldon refers to Dr. Verstraeten's study which looked at the data from the Vaccine Safety Datalink and found a significant correlation between thimerosal exposure via vaccines and several neurodevelopmental disorders including tics, speech and language delays and possibly to ADD. . . . scientists focused on the study of the Datalink material, whose main author was Dr. Thomas Verstraesten who identified himself as working at the National Immunization Program of the CDC. . . . (It was discovered by Congressman Weldon that Dr. Verstraeten left the CDC shortly after this conference to work for GlaxoSmithKline in Belgium which manufacturers vaccines, a recurring pattern that has been given the name a "revolving door." It is also interesting to note that GlaxoSmithKline was involved in several lawsuits over complications secondary to their vaccines.) . . . Based on this realization that they were violating safety guidelines he says, this then "resulted in a joint statement of the Public Health Service (PHS) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) in July of last year (1999), which stated that as a long term goal, it was desirable to remove mercury from vaccines because it was a potentially preventable source of exposure." . . . Now, we need to stop and think about what has transpired here. We have an important group here -- the ACIP -- that essentially plays a role in vaccine policy that affects tens of millions of children every year. And, we have evidence from the thimerosal meeting in 1999 that the potential for serious injury to the infant's brain is so serious that a recommendation for removal becomes policy. . . . In addition, they are all fully aware that tiny babies are receiving mercury doses that exceed even EPA safety limits, yet all they can say is that we must "try to remove thimerosal as soon as possible?" Do they not worry about the tens of millions of babies that will continue receiving thimerosal-containing vaccines until they can get around to stopping the use of thimerosal? . . . It should also be noted that it is a misnomer to say "removal of thimerosal" since they are not removing anything. They just plan to stop adding it to future vaccines once they use up existing stocks, which entails millions of doses. And, incredibly, the government allows them to do it. . . . Even more incredibly, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Practice similarly endorse this insane policy. In fact, they specifically state that children should continue to receive the thimerosal-containing vaccines until new thimerosal-free vaccines can be manufactured at the will of the manufacturers. Are they afraid that there will be a sudden diphtheria epidemic in America or tetanus epidemic? . . . The most obvious solution was to use only single-dose vials, which requires no preservative. So why don't they use them? . . . Oh, they exclaim, it would add to the cost of the vaccine. Of course, we are only talking about a few dollars per vaccine at most, certainly worth the health of your child's brain and future. . . . Medical literature is abound with studies on the deleterious effects of mercury on numerous enzymes, mitochondrial energy production, synaptic function, dendritic retraction, neurotubule dissolution and excitotoxicity. Yet, he sees only a "theoretical risk" associated with an ever increasing addition of thimerosal-containing vaccines. . . . It is also important to note that these geniuses never even saw a problem in the first place. It was pressure from outside scientists, parents of affected children and groups representing them that pointed out the problem. They were, in essence, reacting to pressure from outside the "vaccinologist club" and not discovering internally that a problem "might" exist.

The drink that could prevent cancer
(The Guardian, August 31, 2004)
Scientists say there are three major ways to cut the risk of cancer. Don't smoke, don't become fat, and follow a balanced diet. Now from South Africa comes a potential fourth tip: drink rooibos tea. If you have never heard of it, you are not alone. Rooibos has been one of the more esoteric products in the herbal-remedy section of health shops, a strange-sounding name to match a strange taste drawn from the needle-like leaves of a plant found only on the slopes of the Cederberg mountains outside Cape Town. . . . For centuries, indigenous bushmen have sworn by the health-giving properties of the tea. European settlers who picked up the habit agreed there was something special about rooibos - Afrikaans for red bush - and even bathed their children with it. Now science suggests they may have been on to something. New research provides tantalising evidence that the tea can help ward off cancer. Rats and mice that drank it were found to have effective protection against a variety of cancers. . . . There is no proof yet that humans benefit, but makers are anticipating increased demand, with the likes of Tetley's, Twinings and Taylor's introducing ranges. Boxes are popping up in Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury and Boots. Coca-Cola is rumoured to be preparing to get in on the act with a rooibos-flavoured iced tea. . . . "I'm pretty confident it will protect humans from environmentally and dietary-induced cancer, but to what extent isn't clear yet," said Dr Jeanine Marnewick, a biochemist leading a rooibos study at South Africa's Medical Research Council. She thinks extracts might one day be included in sun creams, and that the version you drink could be classified a drug rather than a refreshment. Clinical trials are years away, but Marnewick is not waiting that long: "I now drink about a litre a day, five or six cups." . . . Aspalathus linearis, to give the plant its Latin name, is in fact a legume, not a tea in the conventional sense. Laboratory tests show the rich level of antioxidants help rodents prone to cancer by "scavenging" the free-radical molecules which attack their cells. In other words, rooibos boosts the body's ability to prevent the disease by increasing detoxifying liver enzymes and arresting, or at least slowing down, DNA mutation ("antimutagenic activity"). . . . Researchers first tested rooibos in a test tube and found that it inhibited 90% of bacterial DNA mutations. The next stage was to put the tea in rats' drinking water for 10 weeks, after which a sample of their livers was added to a bacterium exposed to a toxic chemical. Again, the mutations were inhibited. This showed that rooibos was available to and absorbed by the body and responsible for the protection, said Marnewick. . . . The next step was to test rooibos using a cancer model. Mice were divided into two groups, with one group treated with rooibos and the other water. Cancer was induced in all. Photographs taken weeks later tell a dramatic story: those denied the tea developed angry-looking lesions on their skin, known as papillomas. . . . Today 13,000 hectares are under cultivation, yielding around 8,000 tonnes annually of which just under half is drunk in South Africa and the rest exported mostly to Germany, Japan and the Netherlands. Sales in the US have been stymied by a court battle with an American firm which trademarked rooibos as its own brand. . . . Britain is the fourth biggest export market, consuming 188 tonnes last year, a leap from 72 tonnes in 2001. "It started with the health and organic drinkers but is now entering the mainstream,"

Experiences of stroke victim pinpoint brain's dream zone
(Alok Jha, The Guardian, September 10, 2004)
Sigmund Freud may have been right all along. Dreams really could be our unconscious minds giving us a glimpse of our deepest, darkest desires. . . . Proponents of Freud's theories on psychoanalysis - for so long scorned by the scientific establishment - may well be rejoicing. Scientists will today announce that they have found the region of the brain where dreams originate. . . . Dr Claudio L Bassetti, a neurologist at the University Hospital of Zurich in Switzerland and one of the authors of the paper, said they had stumbled on an important clue to the origins of dreams. The patient's experiences pointed to that part of the brain that acted as a sort of dream factory, as well as the extent of lesions needed to stop it working. "As such, they offer a target for further study of the localisation of dreaming," he concluded. . . . For generations scientists and psychologists have tried to unravel the mystery of dreams. Dream interpretation was a fundamental part of Freud's work at the turn of the 20th century. He argued that dreams were a form of wish fulfilment during sleep, arising from our sexual urges. But his ideas were entirely subjective and, as such, scientists have struggled to accept them. . . . "Given that we spend so much of the night dreaming, you may have to come up with some evolutionary theory about why we do it," Dr Blagrove said. "You can come up with two theories: one is that we've evolved to dream and the dream has a function. The other is that something else has evolved and dreaming is just a side product." . . . Jennie Parker, a psychology researcher at the University of the West of England, said that dreaming is the most recurring form of human consciousness. "If we can figure out dreams, we can figure out all other forms of human consciousness," she said.
