With Alito on the bench, Roe v. Wade will be overturned

Samuel Alito, if confirmed, will become the fifth Catholic on the Supreme Court. Four practicing Catholics already sit on the court, in addition to new Chief Justice Roberts, are justices Scalia, Thomas, and Kennedy.

The math is quite simple, it only takes a 5-4 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Now ask yourself, if a clear-cut case comes before these five Catholic justices, do you really believe that they would so publically denounce their own religion? It will ultimately come down to whether they want to remain Catholics or Americans? My guess is that the Church will always win that battle with this crew.

What is really going on behind the scenes in Washington?

An interesting thing to keep in mind these days is the fact that the Fitzgerald investigation came into being at the behest of the CIA. For years there have been stories floating around about some old hands at the CIA being bitter for having to take a lot of blame for what they considered to be the White House's bungling of the information provided to them.

Last October, I blogged a summary of an article in the UK's Independent titled
CIA 'old guard' goes to war with Bush, which contained statements like the one from "Jim Pavitt, a 31-year CIA veteran who retired as a departmental chief in August, said that he cannot recall a time of such "viciousness and vindictiveness" in a battle between the White House and the agency". I suspect that this is why it was so important for our Beloved Dictator to have Porter Goss as his puppet at the CIA.

Now if this story was a work of fiction I would have the two protagonists be the Bush Crime Family pitted against the CIA, and I'll bet most of us could weave some interesting tales around a scenario like that. The thing that bothers me, however, is that the truth these days has become much stranger than fiction.

Fascists Take Over Congress, Rules of Order Thrown Out

A few minutes ago, the U.S. House of Representatives was firmly taken over by the Fascist Wing of the Republican Party. In a complete abrogation of the Rules of Order, the Republican Speaker ignored the fact that the time for voting had long expired and refused to close a vote because they had lost by two votes.

It was almost beyond belief to watch this evil-minded group of fascists simply ignore the calls from the floor to close the vote as the law requires. This went on for quite some time until two weak-willed Republicans changed their votes after receiving some dire threats from their un-patriotic Republican leaders.

Immediately after the vote-switch took place, the Speaker recorded the changed vote as 212 for and 210 against. When he made the announcement, the uproar was something seldom heard in Congress. One Democrat shouted, "Is this the House of a Banana Republic?" The House then fell into near bedlam with the Democrats all chanting "SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME".

So I ask you, do we really need a federal government at all, particularly since it no longer responds to the will of the people. This bunch of fascists that has illegally seized control of the government is more anti-American than the most ardent Communist ever was. These people are looters, pure and simple.

What was this contentious legislation all about, you ask? It was a bill that now gives Bush the authority to GIVE AWAY federal land to his oil company buddies for them to use for new refineries. I guess the oil companies aren't gouging us enough these days, now they've got their little petty tyrant, Bush the Younger, giving them our land.

It's time to reorganize this nation, and a good place to start might be for California to succeed from the union. I'm sure the red staters won't mind.

The Supreme Court's flip-flopping new evangelical justice
Bush's appointment of Ms. Miers (following the appointment of strict Catholic, John Roberts) raises some interesting questions about whether these new justices are going to abandon their religious beliefs or impose their twisted world views on the rest of us.

For example, Roberts simply cannot claim to be a Roman Catholic and yet vote to uphold Roe v. Wade. He's either a Catholic or he votes to uphold that decision, but he can't have it both ways . . . at least that's what Pope Bene the Rat says.

Now we have Miers the flip-flopper. A decade ago she was a Democrat, and she was originally a Catholic. . . . FLIP, now she's a Republican. FLOP, now she's an evangelical Christian. . . . WOW! . . . According to Wikipedia, here is what Harriet thinks about how we should live . . . at least if she's an evangelical in more than name only.

Despite many variations, evangelicals in the United States generally adhere to four core beliefs:

    1. Biblical inerrancy
    2. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus and not good works
    3. Individuals (above an age of accountability) must personally trust in Jesus Christ for salvation.
    4. All Christians are commissioned to evangelize

And you didn't think it was possible for this country to get even more whacked out than it already is. . . . What a disaster the Supreme Court has become. It's no wonder that many people have nothing but contempt for this once august body.
