Thought for the day
It only takes 20 years for a liberal to become a conservative without changing a single idea. In an evolving universe, who stands still moves backwards.

Fascist America
In 1944, Henry Wallace (then the Vice President of the U.S.) wrote the following about Bush's grandfather and his cronies who were trading with Hitler:
Still another danger is represented by those who, paying lip service to democracy and the common welfare, in their insatiable greed for money and the power which money gives, do not hesitate surreptitiously to evade the laws designed to safeguard the public from monopolistic extortion. American fascists of this stamp were clandestinely aligned with their German counterparts before the war, and are even now preparing to resume where they left off, after 'the present unpleasantness' ceases.
And now the grandson carries on the family plan to enslave America in their fascist dreams. WAKE UP, AMERICA! You have abandoned democracy for fascism.

The Phony Cease Fire Talks
Am I just being cynical, or did the U.S. use the pretext of an attempt at negotiations in Najaf to cover up the fact that a hurricane had forced the closure of their main headquarters for the war? It is public knowledge that by Friday the 13th, the military base in Tampa (where the war is actually being run) had been evacuated due to the approach of hurricane Charley. After the storm spared Tampa, the base was reopened. Shortly after, lo and behold!, the “negotiations” broke down, and American tanks once again began rolling toward Najaf.

A civilization with high technology is unstable; it ends when the species destroys itself or improves on itself.

Koyaaniskatsi: World Out of Balance
It is hard to believe some of the high weirdness going on these days. John Ashcroft has spent $67 million of our tax dollars to obtain voter profiles of Venezuelans, Brazilians, Nicaraguans, Mexicans and Argentines. Can anyone tell me what right Ashcroft has to spend our taxes to purge voter rolls in other countries?
And the way the media is treating the story about the resignation of the New Jersey governor seems to be completely missing the point. Only religious fanatics like Bush supporters and Osama bin Laden's followers care if a person is homosexual. The Big Story here is that the New Jersey governor was about to be blackmailed by an Israeli national who apparently set him up! If this doesn't smell of a Mossad black ops project, I don't know what does. The fact that the U.S. political apparatus has been hijacked by the Zionists is obvious to anyone who can spell Wolfowitz, Perle, Abrams, and Feith (all holders of Israeli passports). It is quite obvious that the White House is controlled by these Zionist madmen. So it seems to me no small stretch of the imagination to see the long tentacles of Ariel Sharon reaching into Democratic politics in New Jersey, just as Ashcroft is doing in South America.

What's so scary about the "L" word?
Here is the definition of "liberal" from the American Heritage Dictionary:
lib·er·al adj. Abbr. lib. 1.a. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry. b. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
I can't understand why everyone doesn't want to fit that definition.
