Veterans and Post Traumatic Stress A news item yesterday mentioned the fact that 30.6% of all veterans who served in Viet Nam will suffer from PTSD at some point in their life. While statistics for the first Bush war are not available, anecdotal evidence suggests that this number is also going to hold for veterans of the wars of Bush I and Bush II.
If you have ever suffered from this affliction, or know someone who has, you might want to check out a recent story posted on our War on Drugs page, A Renaissance in Psychedelic Research. There you will find information about an extremely important medical research study that holds great promise of providing relief from this debilitating disease.
The study is being conducted at a private clinic (with full FDA and DEA approval) by Doctor Michael Mithoefer and is titled, "MDMA-assisted Psychotherapy in the Treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)." If you are interested in this work, or if you would like to make a donation to assist this important investigation, go to MAPS.org where you will find a wealth of information about the current state of psychedelic research.
