Pentagon punishes rebellious soldiers The Pentagon has cracked down hard on the soldiers who spoke out against the military brass and the White House in a recent segment on ABC's "Good Morning, America." One soldier told the San Francisco Chronicle, "It was the end of the world. It went all the way up to President Bush and back down again on top of us. At least six of us here will lose our careers."
Chron reporter Robert Collier writes, "First lesson for the troops, it seemed: Don't ever talk to the media "on the record" -- that is, with your name attached -- unless you're giving the sort of chin-forward, everything's-great message the Pentagon loves to hear." But, unfortunately for the Bushies, censorship is not going to improve troop morale or improve the situation on the ground. Posted on Alternet.org July 18, 2003 @ 10:19AM.
