US Trade gap widens to a record WASHINGTON, June 20 (UPI) -- The Commerce Department said Thursday that the nation's trade deficit during April widened to record as the United States imported more oil from overseas and fuel prices surged. The nation's trade gap widened to a seasonally adjusted $35.9 billion from $32.5 billion March and $31.8 billion in February. The gap was the largest since the government began keeping records on a monthly basis back in 1992.
